拼布朋友發問,我來小小研究一下

什麼是Scrap quilt? 你知道原來的定義或者是緣由嗎?

其實我不是很清楚,看了一些資料好像懂了,又好像不太懂

一些圖片搜尋的結果,都不陌生,但如何歸類又如何定義呢?

以下是我找到的一些相關的定義,如果有不同的想法,非常歡迎你告訴我,在此先謝了.

在翻譯軟體上對Scrap的解釋如下:

當名詞時:

a small piece or amount of something, especially one that is left over after the greater part has been used.

或者是

discarded metal for reprocessing.

當動詞時:

discard or remove from service (a retired, old, or inoperative vehicle, vessel, or machine), especially so as to convert it to scrap metal.
然後--Scrapbook是剪貼簿,這樣有沒有多一點聯想根據

在IQF 對Scrap quilt 徵件競賽規則裡寫到

Surprising combinations, refreshed perspectives, riots of color, and attendant pattern adaptations mean scrap quilts are always one of a kind — just like the quilters who make them.

意思是指那些個令人驚喜的組合,呈現嶄新的視點,利用適合的圖案搭配著活潑的色彩...

Scrap,就不是大塊大塊的布,而是以"零頭布"為材料所做出來的拼布被,所以它必是小片拼接的作品,卻不侷限在是否為pattern,當然,有些應運而生的及傳統的pattern或是出版品都可以找得到.

把零頭布用光光,就是Scrap quilt(碎片拼接拼布)的目的,

話說,我總是又拿起大塊布來切,於是,做著做著,零頭布是愈來愈多了.

行筆至此,我告訴我自己,或許不用再去深究它的原義或者到底是誰先用了這個名稱.

傳統pattern運用也好,自行創作的pattern也無妨,我認為pattern除了提供給拼布人一個圖案的依據,同時也暗藏拼縫的工法邏輯在其中.

Scrap quilt(碎片拼接拼布)看起來,早就是拼布人常常在做的一種類型,它和traditional quilt傳統拼布,modern quilt現代拼布,或是fusible quilt....名稱的不同是著眼點的不同,色彩風格也各不同路,不過,大家做得開心最重要,不必太受限,

在國際拼布展中曾經對現代拼布做如下的定義:

made for display on a wall, using any technique, that are inspired by modern design, often using improvisational piecing or appliqué and including bold colors, high contrast, and simple shapes on neutral backgrounds. Expansive negative space

may allow the quilting to take the forefront.
